Someone mentioned this somewhere and I think about it all the time. All of the F7’s abilities are physical except for Merlin’s, so it stands to reason that their fighting would be different in their dwarf forms because they aren’t used to them and just because their physicalities are different (ex. Arthur’s sword is sized and weighted for his human form, not his dwarf form, and it throws him off balance).

But Merlin is a spell caster, so he is essentially unaffected. He has the same level of power he always had, he only THINKS he is more powerful in his real, human form. His powers aren’t hampered by anything but his own self confidence related to his outer appearance (which doesn’t even have anything to do with his powers, he has all the same capabilities whether he is handsome and tall or green and short). In the climax of the movie, he unleashes by far his biggest and most powerful spell attack in the whole film, as a dwarf. In that moment, he wasn’t thinking about himself or what form he was in or what he looked like, he was only thinking about saving Snow White’s life. There was never anything holding him back, it was all just in his head.
